MFP’s

MFP is an acronym for Multi Function Printer.  Very similar to a copier in it’s functionality, an MFP is usually manufactured by a “printer company” like Hewlett Packard, for example.  They usually provide all-in-one ability for printing, copying, scanning, and even faxing.  For all intensive purposes, an MFP is a copier by another name.

Copiers

Years ago, copiers were quite simple – they just made copies.  Today, they can print, copy, fax, scan and more.  Copiers do not always have these multi-function options, however, so it is important to read the features of your model closely.  At it’s core, it will of course make copies – but if you are needing the features of printing, scanning, or faxing – you’ll want to make sure they are included.
